Here's how to add a channel topic in Slack
- Select Your Channel
First, navigate to the Slack channel where you want to add or update a topic. Click on the channel name in your sidebar to open it.
- Open Channel Options
Once in the channel, locate and click the three dots icon (More actions) in the top right corner of the channel header. This will reveal a dropdown menu.
- Access Channel Details
From the menu that appears, select the option labeled "Open channel details." This action will open a modal window displaying various channel settings.
- Edit the Channel Topic
Within the channel details modal, find the "Topic" section. Click the "Edit" button located next to the topic field to enable editing.
- Enter and Save Your Topic
A new dialog box will appear. Type your desired topic into the provided text field. After entering the topic, click the "Save" button to confirm your changes.
